Isn't it interesting that “daddy issues” have become a way to make fun of and belittle women’s childhood trauma, instead of calling out men for being inadequate paternal/parental figures. This narrative normalizes the idea that men who are not “good” fathers are just the average dad. But no, they are far below average and should be held accountable for that. There are so many wonderful dads out there, (sure, they’re not perfect either, but no-one is). We should raise our standards for dads - we owe it to all kids and all fathers who have so much more to give than the bare minimum.
